Follow the tracks of Magic

October 01, 2017

When I first landed in Europe back in 2015, me and my cousins spent a week in United Kingdom, and one of the highlights of our journey – London!
Harry Potter has been my favourite, a fictional universe of magical land of the global wizard community that lives hidden parallel with us. And finally, I got a chance to visit some of the Harry Potter locations in London!

1. St. Pancras Station to King’s Cross Exterior – our childhood memories.
Every time when the trains depart, it feels like we are on a train where it drives us away from our world and leads us to Hogwarts. A large castle somewhere in the Highlands of Scotland, where it grounds with sloping lawns, flowerbeds and vegetable patches, a loch (the Black Lake), a large dense forest (the Forbidden Forest), several greenhouses and a full-size Quidditch Pith (the most popular activity in Hogwarts).
St. Pancras Station

Although Harry Potter and his friends board the Hogwarts Express at King’s Cross Station, the exterior that used in films was the place where we stepped on, St. Pancras Station. Do you remember where Ron and Harry park the Weasleys’ Ford Anglia in the corner of the courtyard during The Chamber of Secrets and later fly off over the station?

As any fan of J.K. Rowling’s bestselling series will know, King’s Cross is where students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy catch the Hogwarts Express. The Hogwarts Express departs from Platform 93/4 at King’s Cross Station, which is the arched wall between platforms 4 and 5.

2. Platform 93/4 – an express that heads toward your magical realm.

Once enter the station, we keep straight ahead and follow the sign that points to Platforms 9 to 11 on the west side of the station. There we find a trolley disappearing into the magical realm through a wall with the sign: Platform 93/4.

Even though is not an actual film location, this brown brick has become an attraction to Harry Potter fans from all over the world. There is a sign where the station staff placed a luggage cart against the wall which looks as though it is half way into the wall, as though some young wizard or with is actually proceeding on their way to board the Hogwarts Express! You can take your photographs, pushing the cart as you too are on your way to the magical realm!

3. The Harry Potter Shop – get your wand in Ollivander’s wand shop.
Continue past Platform 93/4, look your way a little further along on the right and there you would find The Harry Potter Shop, a shop that you do not wish to miss.
Styled to resemble Ollivander’s wand shop, complete with wooden panelling and lots of draws as you recalled from the films, the Harry Potter Shop has something special for everyone.

The Harry Potter Shop

As you step inside the magical shop that recreated to look like Ollivander’s wand shop from J.K. Rowling’s book. You can find all the Hogwarts, Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff merchandise as a true fan could ever want.

You can find collectibles items such as wands, time turners, and Hogwarts school jumpers sorted in house colours, bedding and blankets that featuring your favourite school house.

This is the perfect place for you to dress in and be your favourite character by purchasing their wands, fancy dress costumes, and sets of robes.

If you are looking for some souvenirs, there are some smaller items like board games, key rings, mugs, mobile phone cases, soft toys and action figures that suitable for more modest budgets.
